possible just very confusing so it would mean she put down her stepfather on her marriage certificate William Galley occupation mason rather than her real Dad, would not be the first time in my family.

you never know William Galley might be her real Dad ?

Quite recently I sent for a marriage cert for someone in my line - on the certificate was a note 3 months after the marriage the name had been changed -he was illegitimate and  had married using his step father's name -3months after the marriage a note was made on the certificate of his birth name (his descendants still use the step fathers name as their surname to this day)
