Susannah Griffiths

Hi I need some help. I'm seriously stuck. My G G had a twin sister called Susannah. Born in Pontypridd but they were sent into service when there mother died, around 1925. All we know is that she went to London.
Rachel and Susannah born Porth/Pontypridd 19/06/1910.
Father was Robert Henry Griffiths and mother was Margaret Jane Williams.
Their siblings - David,  Sarah ann, Margaret Mary, Jane E,  Thomas Henry, Samuel.
I have have looked on the 1939 census but no sign.

Williams, Margaret J; December Qtr 1924; Age 38; Pontypridd Reg District; Volume 11a Page 637.

Edited to add: Although her married name was of course Griffiths, I don't see a Margaret Jane Griffiths death that fits!

Mother Margaret Jane's death from FreeBMD:

Hmmm, scratch that, parents married in 1895 in Pontypridd. Therefore Margaret Jane would have been born earlier than 1886! 

Are you sure about the death year (about 1925) for Margaret Jane Griffiths? as I don't see one for the 1920's of the right age at all, the nearest that I can see that fits in age wise with an 1895 marriage is a 76 year old dying in 1955.

I know that this doesn't help as regards tracking down Susannah, but if we could get something of a timeframe it may help.

Even if she went to live in London, she could have returned home to marry.

Do you know if she was a bridesmaid when her twin sister married?

Could this be Margaret's death?

Margaret Jane Griffiths born 17.6.1877 died DQ 1971 Pontypridd Vol 8B Page 2601

The family are in a tree on ancestry, but no deaths for the parents or knowledge of their life after 1911
 or for Susannah.

Could it have been their father who died around 1925?

Deaths June quarter 1927 
 Robert H Griffiths  age 53 at Cardiff.

I do not have paid access to the 1939 census - Margaret (Jane) Griffiths, 1877, is showing with William and 1 other person and 1 closed record.  Does this fit with their family?

Hi there,

Margaret died in childbirth in 1922 (1877-1922), the twins went into the work house (cottage homes) for a while in Pontypridd.  Their father Robert (1874-1933) came to get them but couldn't cope. I have all these records. They were put into service privately, possibly through a church but I have no idea which one or where to look for that info. My G G kept in touch with Sarah Ann and as far as we know they never saw Susannah again. My G G was sent to service in Newton Ferrers, Plymouth. She married samuel clark in newton Abbott.

Hi Deborah,

Did the child survive. Do you have a name? To pinpoint death Qtr of Margaret.

The only death in 1922 Pontypridd Reg district is for a Margaret C Griffiths age 43

I have her death cert, she died on the 24th January 1922. There is no entry for the child so we concluded the child was never actually born. Very sad.
