Hi again,
So, regarding which records does George Fox appear on:
George and Elizabeth seem to have had 4 children:
1 Hamilton Fox 1842, Yeovil, Dorset (died 13 June 1857 in Melcombe-Horsey)
2 Charlotte Fox 1845, Middlemarsh, Dorset
3 Jane Fox* 12th September 1850, Minterne Magna, Dorset
4 William G Fox 1859, Minterne, Dorset
You all have helped me to find the Hamilton Fox Baptism in Yeovil. George was described as a Basketmaker on Hamilton's baptism. The 1851 and 1861 Census tell us more about George's wife Elizabeth and their 4 children:
1851 Census: H0109; Piece: 1858; Folio: 693, Page: 18
Minterne Magna, Dorset
Elizabeth Fox, 33, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Hamilton Fox, 9, Minterne, Dorset
Charlotte Fox, 6, Minterne, Dorset
Jane Fox, 7 months, Minterne, Dorset
1861 Census: RG09; Piece: 354; Folio: 54, Page: 19
28 Union Street, Lambeth, London
Elizabeth Fox, 43, Needlewoman, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Charlotte Fox, 16, House Servant, Middlemarsh, Dorset
Jane Fox, 10, Middlemarsh, Dorset
Wm George Fox, 2, Erne, Dorset (believed to mean Minterne or Cerne Abbas)
Now, I have found Jane Fox's baptism in Minterne Magna in 1850 where George is described once again as a Basket Maker as he was on the Marriage Record in 1838 to Elizabeth Fenton. So, I haven't yet found the baptisms for Charlotte or William George Fox.
So, given William George Fox's baptism hasn't yet be found in 1858/9, what we do know when William George marries in 1882 is that he also states his father as George Fox (a Fancy Box maker).
Questions then:
1. Where are the baptims of Charlotte and William George
2. If we assume George Fox died circa late 1850s/1860 (in 1861, Elizabeth clearly says she was a widow) where is he in 1841, 1851 Census?
Thoughts?
Thank you all
Keith
