BOWERMAN is a good Oxfordshire name.  There are many baptisms recorded in the 1500s - mostly in the Witney area (Oxfordshire Family History Society baptism database).

With regard to others researching the name, visit the Oxfordshire Surname Interest List, OXSIL, www.oxsil.org.uk .  Have a look - and do also do add your own interest!  Of particular interest to you should be the Guild of One-Name Studies member, Bev Bowerman, who's researching all BOWERMAN records.
