What gets me are the entries that go something like

Oxford, Berkshire or Gloucestershire or Oxfordshire or Warwickshire

How about taking a wild punt?
Middlesex: KING,  MUMFORD, COOK, ROUSE, GOODALL, BROWN
Oxford: MATTHEWS, MOSS
Kent: SPOONER, THOMAS, KILLICK, COLLINS
Cambs: PRIGG, LEACH
Hants: FOSTER
Montgomery: BREES
Surrey: REEVE

Just a note of caution Xin.  Although your new tree may be private be wary of granting access (even as a guest) to anybody who's tree is public.

I got caught by someone with a proven link to my tree so I allowed access only to discover not only had my whole tree been taken and attached to his tree but that his tree was public so now my private tree was available as a public tree!

Very cross.

Right .... I didnt realise that...

Just about to see if its too late to close Access .  that I allowed to two others.... Blimey..

I will be back.

that is NOT GOOD but I suppose there are limits to what they can do.
 ::) ::) ::) ::)

xin

off to check

quick view and I have (sadly) removed access to most people apart from two very close connections.. That I will check...with later.

is it worth it..

I have one connection bless her -- who I have to accept has left us - as it is over 3 years since I had contact and the last time was from her husband to say she was very ill...
BUT her tree is on line and public although not actually 'active'.

But....

Can you be sure they won't give access to the info. you provided (vicious circle)?

If you want to keep limitations, do not allow access but give snippets of info. you don't mind being shared  :-\

West Ham is apparently in Suffolk and Hendon is in Oxfordshire.

My grandad was born in 1900 in Headington registration district, which covered a large area of Oxfordshire.  From memory, three websites have recorded the details correctly but another two insist he was born in Hendon RD, Middlesex.  It looks like one site made the mistake and the other one blindly copied.  My guess is that someone chose the wrong RD from a drop-down list - Headington/Hendon, meh, who cares?  It's near enough.

Coombs, are you researching COOPER at all?

Not any Cooper's in Oxon or Berks yet but many rellies from those areas especially in the Abingdon areas.

I know Rochford and Rochdale have been confused with each other in the BMD indexes.
