I would consider purchasing the will of Frerick William Spooner to see if he mentioned the other FWS at all?

FW Spooner that married Sarah Ann Jones in 1841 is an accountant of Cummings Street, his father is listed as William, a warehouseman!

This is the same Frederick and William on the 1841 that Millipede found as the census address is also Cummings Street, William is then a commission agent and Frederick is a clerk. This Frederick and Sarah Ann are then in Croydon in 1851, Frederick is now a wine cooper/merchant with several servants.

It is noted that on his marriage to Sarah Ann he is shown as a bachelor.

Thank you,

It seems clear to me now, that Frederick William Spooner, and Esther Marsden were probably not married when my Frederick William junior was born: There is no trace of a record that I can find. It may just be possible that Frederick W Senior was a Warehouseman, as he put this on Frederick Junior's Birth Certificate. But that was in 1837. He married in 1841. In the years between, he may have become an Accountant. It is also very interesting that this Frederick's Father's name was William, and was a Warehouseman himself.

Cheers.  :) ;)

I have no idea when FWS Senior died, or even if he made a will.  :)

He died in 1873 and his probate is on Ancestry. You can order it here https://www.gov.uk/wills-probate-inheritance/searching-for-probate-records

Thanks For This,

I looked on the map, and Cumming Street is not far at all away from Britannia Street, Hoxton New Town. This was the address given for FW Spooner junior when he was born, and address of his father FW Senior on FW junior's Birth Certificate.  :) ;)

Brittania Street is now called Brittania Walk. This is only about a mile away from St. Leonards Church Shoreditch. That is where Frederick W Senior married Sarah Ann Jones in 1841.
I looked into the Father of FW Spooner senior. It seems that his Father, William had previously been a Linen Draper. But he went bankrupt sometime in the 1820's.
The only baptism I can find for FW S Senior, to a William, is 1814, in Edenham, Lincolnshire.
But on most of the Census returns, his birth was put down as: "Pentonville, Middlesex".

I am convinced that this is the right one.

Thank you.  :) ;)

I agree that it is unlikely that FWS and Esther ever married, it would be very interesting to see if he named him in his will at all, although he does not appear to have supported Esther after his marriage to Sarah Ann (if that is the correct Esther in the workhouse).

His baptism, 25 Aug 1814, Edenham Lincs, FWS, s/o William (warehouseman) and Catherine of 20 Henry Street, Pentonville, London.

Married by licence at Edenham Lincs, 26 Dec 1811, William Spooner, bachelor from ?Caleton? Street, St Lawrence, London to Catherine Hodgkin, both signed, witnessed by Thos Jenkins Lloyd and Jane Hodgkins.

Eliza Catherine, bap 1 Feb 1824, ditto
Emma Sophia, as above
Sarah Isabella, bap 31 Oct 1824, born 23 Mar 1824
Henry Hodgkin, bap 25 Feb 1827, born 2 Jul 1826
