On Jacob's marriage permission record its states : Ann Smith convict who arrived on the Hydery.
Got a problem tho cause there were 3 Ann Smith's on that ship.

The 11 Dec marriage permission shows her convict number - 223 - so this is her here

M :)

Thank you M. I never gave it a thought to check the convict numbers :-[

It wasn't an obvious solution as there are two marriage permission entries - the first one has no number :)

There doesn't seem to be any children to their marriage in Tasmania. Can't see a death or remarriage for Ann either, maybe need to look at Victoria or NSW?

Mentioned by Maddy above, here is the fuller location of the article in 1837 in Hobart
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/8649848

In connection, I am noting it  also mentions  Ann POW  assisting Doctor BENSON after the apparent murder  in Hobart.

Relevant or not? ??? This item-

In late May 1841 Barque Hindoo left for London with Mrs POW on board.

Perhaps the marriage was not a happy one.

1838. Ann (nee  SMITH) according to her record, cited above, was found absent without leave from her husband's premises after hours. She was located at the house of William TIVEY. He appears to be a convict also.

She was granted freedom in 1841 I think, but I cannot locate the month.

She was granted freedom in 1841 I think, but I cannot locate the month.

This misconduct was also noted in the record of William TIVEY

What exactly they were doing in his house is the one word I cannot read on the document ;D

I make it out as "Disorderly conduct in receiving in his house on Saturday night after hours Ann Smith ux Jacob Pow she being at the time absent without leave."

1848 census shows 2 males only in Jacob Pow's residence
