Hi higgypee, it's probably a good idea to post a reply as a new post rather than modifying your original post - just a bit easier to follow the thread (for me anyway!)

  ;D  ;D

When I first answered this thread the first post only consisted of 5 lines, adding extra information to it after I had replied makes my reply look daft  ::)  ;D

An online tree suggests that the James Miller age 40 who died 1901 was husband of Sarah Jane Thomas   :-\

ADDED I think he appears at Court House, 1 Birkett Street, Liverpool in 1901 occ Dock Labourer
RG13/3424 f86 p8  (By the following census Sarah Jane has remarried)

Dear All, thanks for all the help. I have only been doing this for a week or so and have become obsessed, but not skilled. I thought I had to post on the Scotland board and the Liverpool board for help on the two ends of the puzzle. I will know better next time.

Your post was fine, sorry if I gave the impression it was not.  I replied on your other post as someone was after clarity on the 1901 death.  The link I gave on here was just to indicate that you were looking at the same person in Scotland so we did not get carried away as we often do.  It is a good idea if you are posting on two boards just to put a link to the other post.

It is true that we don't encourage posting the same thing on multiple boards as it often causes duplication of replies. This is when someone is just asking the same thing and probably not sure where the person is likely to be born/married etc in which case it is better to use general board and not the county boards. The mods can always move it if in the wrong place.  ;D

We still have not found James Miller's death though  :(
