Hi Sinann, thanks for your reply.

Hi I'm not so sure they did, they definitely didn't get married before the birth of Hugh Parker.
I have found marriages for a Alley turner and a James Buckley
on 12 Jan 1823 in Kilmichael, Cork, Ireland. Hugh Parker and Martha Grainger (can't remember where i found that).

Will take a look at the links. thanks again.

I was trying to read what the priest has written after their names, I think it says "of no certain residence" might not be "certain" but either way it sounds like they weren't locals or were at least moving around a lot which will make them very hard to find. Assuming records even survive, many don't from this early period.
Have you got later records for their son?
Did he use his mother or father's surname?

People didn't generally leave anything between baptism and marriage, and with no idea where his parents were from or if they married I can't think of anywhere to even suggest looking. I was hopeing the priest might have persuaded them to marry but there are no marriages showing in that parish after Feb 1808 for the rest of the year.

A post on the Armed Forces board here might yield some information about his military records.

Hello,
My name is Richard Evans, and my great great grandfather was Vincent Augustine Parker who was married to Isabella Philips. I would be very interested to see how are ancestors fit in. Somehow I have the same letter from the Commonwealth Relations Office dated 05-09-1949.
With regards,
Richard
