Canadian Army Records In 1828
« on: Saturday 10 June 17 15:43 BST (UK) »
Hi There,

Please can someone point me in the right direction for Canadian Army Records in 1828.

On my 6xgrandfather Charles McFarlane's Last Will and Testament in 1828, formerly a farmer of la cote st paul, parish of Lachine, presently of Montreal, stating one of his sons named David McFarlane born 1802 La Chine,Montreal, for some reason couldn't attend.

So i'm thinking and hoping David couldn't attend his dads last will and testament because of being away with the army.

Kind Regards
    Gary

McFarling - Quebec, Canada. and St.Helier, Jersey, Channel Is.
Flanagan - Waterford, Clonmel Co.Tipperary Ireland. Belfast N.Ireland.

There is a Quebec Notary record dated 23 Nov 1920 related to the engagement of one David McFarlane by the Hudson's Bay Company. I wonder if this might be him? If it is, he could conceivably been a long way from Montreal out in the western territories at the time of the reading. It doesn't give any other info about the man.

I don't know anything about the Hudson's Bay Company but I do seem to recall that records may be available.

Hello

Another that would fit for your timeframe; however, really is fishing when the occupation is uncertain.

D. McFarlane, May 19  37 [1837] Cornet.
2nd Reg. Lincoln
(pg. 51-52)
The Toronto almanac and royal calendar of Upper Canada, for the year 1839
https://hdl.handle.net/2027/hvd.32044081313827

I would suggest you try and find an obituary in a local paper if one exists. Maybe the son would be mentioned.

The Magistrate is a David, but not yours. Maybe it will help someone else
