Initial searches on Scotland's People, Family Search, Census...

Not immediately throwing up a David BROCK born abt 1865 Paisley.

Could you enlarge a little on what you know/have about this man - where you first and last have him in your records?

Scotlands People, 1860 to 1870 in all Renfrewshire, has no David BROCK coming up on the birth index search.

I got my dates wrong. I am after David Brock born about 1762 and his father Hugh Brock born about 1740. The parents of Hugh would be very helpful

I guessed we might be in the wrong century somehow.

So, Hugh BROCK, born around 1740.

How have you arrived at that approximate year of birth?

What else do you know - the siblings of David and their birth order?
Hugh's wife's name - David's mother?

As much information as possible from what you already know, helps greatly. Especially if we can see if there is a naming pattern involved, often helpful in Scotland.

This information from Ancestry and My Heritage also gathered by another relative doing research on Ancestry and has some  certificates . I believe the family was involved in the army and maybe the Argylls
