marriage 1920
« on: Monday 12 June 17 16:03 BST (UK) »
Would anyone be able to find out any details about a wedding in 1920 in Cardiff between Benjamin Howell Huxley and Bertha Jacobsen. If it was a civil wedding or church and which church. I am interested in finding Benjamins fathers name. Thank you
Huxley, Lewis

Hi

According to the birth index, he was born in 1896 so should be on the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

Dec 1896
Huxley    Benjamin Howell        Newcastle L.    6b   63

Have found found him in either?

The GRO birth index (www.gro.gov.uk) infers he might have been illegitimate as no mothers maiden surname is recorded.

Snap!

You can order the certificate directly from www.gro.gov.uk for £9.25 quoting these references

Marriages Jun 1920
Huxley    Benjamin H    spouse Jacobsen    Cardiff    11a   1247

His army papers suggest 15th May 1920 but not where.

The page range for this quarter is 817-1317, the entry you seek is towards the upper end so could be a register office wedding in which case it won't be online anywhere.

The indexes are compiled firstly by Anglican churches, then Jewish and Quaker, then registrar attended for other denominations and register office.
