I am trying to trace Samuel Reid's family in the 1841 Ireland census. The youngest of nine children, William, was born in the County of Tyrone in 1844. I only know the names of a few of his other children, Thomas (born 1843), Mary (born 1838), John. Samuel's wife's name was Sarah Leckey, Lackie, Lackey. Any information you would be able to provide such as ages, children's names, etc. I would be eternally grateful for. Thank you in advance.

RC Registers are online, free.  Have you searched these?

I am not sure what you mean by RC Registers. Would you send me the address of the site please? Thank you in advance.

Most of the 1841 census was destroyed. Some fragments exist which have survived for one reason or another e.g. from pension applications, but in general there are no complete censuses in Ireland prior to 1901.

RC = Roman Catholic. Many of the parish registers are online here- http://registers.nli.ie/

However, going by the names, it looks like they may have been Protestant?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi!

I'm also looking for a Samuel Reid from Ireland (area unknown) but married to a Margaret Shaw who had a son, John, in about 1813.

John is my Great Great Grandfather and Samuel my Great Great Great Grandfather.

I think Samuel was a farmer but there are many Samuel Reids who were farmers and can't find any married to a Margaret Shaw :(

Thanks
