Archibald & Ordained Measurer
« on: Tuesday 13 June 17 17:03 BST (UK) »
Hi all, anyone any clue as to what this means as an Occupation (or two?)?

Shown on an 1851 census for James and Janet Thomson and their family at 84 High Street, New Monkland, Lanarkshire?

Can't say anything about the first word, but is it at all possible the last two are actually 'ordained minister'?

Putting "Architect Measurer" as an exact keyword in the Scottish 1881 census gives 7 men with this occupation, but none for the census for England.

What both you and Stan have quoted are differing transcriptions of the same thing, without the benefit of access to the original page.
You really need to take a look at the original page which you can view on Scotland's People (you'll have to buy a few credits).
