This site is a bit tricky to navigate but shows the 1860 map with everybody noted on it.  Note that Arthur has property in both the very western part of Scarborough and the very eastern part of York, while Samuel is just one concession north in York:

If you need to search, use the magnifying glass on the top right to search for Arthur.

Wow you are really good at researching. Thank you so much for all the sites you have listed. I would like to believe that this Arthur Martin is the one I am researching. I agree with you that Arthur's property in Scarborough is close enough to Samuel's in North York that they could be father and son. Samuel was born about 1822-1826 in Ireland according to the 1861 and 1871 census so the dates sort of match. The 1861 census lists a 64 year old "Ann" living with Samuel and his wife, Rachel, which led me to believe that Ann was the mother of Samuel. I think the wife of Arthur Martin was "Jane".

This link has the death record for Samuel, the son of Samuel and Rachel, who died in 1933. Note his address at the time. This is the same general area the family was located in in the 1861 census.

This link is for the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid. If you put Arthur Martin and Anne (with an e) in the search engine you will find burials for these 2 at St Jude's Church Wexford which is also in the same area. This is an index so to get more info you need to follow the instructions found on the home page of the website posted.

Doesn't mean these are your Martins (and I now note you mentioned Arthur's wife was Jane?) but you never know.

Alternatively, you may be able to get some info from the church directly. Here is a link to its website...

1851 Census for York Township (actually taken in early 1852; ages given are as of next birthday):

https://www.ancestry.ca/interactive/1061/e096-e002375273/2168525?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.ca%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3fdb%3d1851Canada%26gss%3dsfs28_ms_r_db%26new%3d1%26rank%3d1%26gsfn%3dsam*%26gsfn_x%3d1%26gsln%3dmart*%26gsln_x%3d1%26msbpn__ftp%3direland%26MSAV%3d1%26MSV%3d1%26uidh%3d1gg&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnSearchResults

Martin (indexed as Marter), Nancy, widow, born (not given), aged 51
Troy, Marg't, b. Ireland, Catholic, aged 18
Martin, Sam'l, laborer, b. Ireland, English Church, aged 25, married
Martin, Rachel, b. Ireland, English Church, aged 21, married
Martin, Ann J., b. Canada, aged 1

So Arthur Sr. is deceased prior to early 1852, and Arthur Jr. in Scarborough can't be found in the 1851/52 census as it no longer exists.  It is entirely possible that Arthur Jr. is a son to Arthur Sr. (and a brother to Samuel), but with Ann (Nancy) being a second wife to Arthur Sr., thus the age difference between Arthur Jr. and Samuel.

Polar Bear, you missed the link for the OCFA:

http://ocfa.islandnet.com/ocfa-search.php

There seem to be two Arthurs -- the elder couple (Arthur & Ann) and the younger (Arthur married to Jane Thompson).  Burial at Wexford is the most likely as that is extremely close to the area in which they farmed.

The archivist at the Anglican Archives of the Toronto Diocese has always been extremely helpful, and likely has the records of the Wexford church which may prove fruitful:

Seems the burial registers and gravemarkers dating from 1832 are available at the Toronto Library (Cedarbrae Branch).  I live just outside Toronto, but make it down to that area relatively frequently, so if you can't find the info you need directly from the church or the archives, I could stop in and have a look.
