Looking for Birth Parents names

Hi,

I have 2 people that I am looking to see if I can find out the full names of the birth parents? (I'm assuming I will have to order birth certificates but thought I would ask to see if there is another way)

Hopefully someone might be able to help

Hi, are these people deceased?

If not you will need to remove their names from your post as Rootschat has a no living persons policy and with those birthdates these two could still be alive.

If you use FreeBMD.org.uk, and search for marriages of a Gillett to a Davis, there are 6 possibilities, 1920 to 1944.

The 1939 marriage looks promising, as it's in Gravesend?

BUT, a birth in Chatham could be connected with the Royal Navy ::)
So getting a Birth Certificate would seem the best course of action.

Thanks for that. I know that the 2 people Gillett & Davis I'm interested in got married in Canterbury in 1945 so I'm trying to see if there is any connection to them and the 2 people I have found born in Kent in 1944 & 1948.

But yeah your right. It would have been big as there would have been lots of Navy there.

So the 2 births were prior to the marriage and therefore illegitimate?
Surely these births would (or should) have been registered in the mother's surname?

Well you see that's what I don't know at the moment.

I just wanted to see if there was a connection. All I can see is that there is a Marriage between Gillett & Davis in Canterbury in 1945 and the 2 people born in Chatham and Bromley with the surname Gillett and maiden name of Davis in 1944 & 1948

Having seen the marriage in 1939 chances are these could both be from them. But I suppose the only way to be 100% is order the birth certificates.

The 1948 one would have been fine. They get divorced at some point and they both get remarried. She gets married a total of 4 times I believe but can't find any other children that may be hers. I know the Gillett she married in 1945 got remarried to my nan in 1952 but he died in 1955.
