Thanks Jamjar
I received the death cert & is def my William . Dundees lead for arrival of William 1877 on the Samuel Plimsoll ship  aged 22,seems to fit perfectly.Died age 66, about 45 years in NSW  from County Cork Ireland, groom.
There were 8 children, the first 2 deceased sons William & Thomas 1883were not mentioned.
Catherine Nimmos family were Presbyterian which explains the civil wedding ceremony & their children were raised Catholic.

Now to finding Williams parents in County Cork Thomas & ?
Many thanks for everyone's help.greatly appreciated.

When trying to locate Williams origins possibly Co Cork Irl keep in mind his childrens names. There was a naming pattern in Ireland which sometimes people adhered to when naming their children.Had a quick look at Baptisms (no Civil until 1864) came across a William Walsh baptised in 1855 in Killeagh Co Cork with parents Thomas Walsh & Margaret Gruddy

I was the first to suggest the 1877 lead on the Samuel Plimsoll ship but Dundee had the full details as I did not have a full Aussie Anc sub. Looks very likely though to be the same man.

A William Walsh born about 1855 arrived in Sydney on 27 Aug 1877 on the Samuel Plimsoll ship. I dont have a full sub to Anc Australia to look further. May be a long shot but date wise is possible.

May I gently mention that it is not necessary to have any subscription to Ancestry, or to Ancestry Australia to access the Samuel Plimsoll passenger list, or the passenger list of many of the ships that brought Immigrants to New South Wales back in the 1800s.    Ancestry and other commercial family history websites have partnership arrangements with the NSW State Archives and so those with subscriptions to Ancestry and similar websites effectively pay to view images.   On the other hand, NSW State Archives have their own website, and they provide digitised images of the passenger lists at their own website.  At present, no fees are needed to access  the NSW State Archives online digitised images of these passenger lists.
