I feel sure his age is incorrect on this entry but couldnt work his parents out

I also think father's occupation is Railway Surfaceman ('man' on the line below 'surface')

Surfaceman: A worker who keeps the railway bed in good repair, in mining, a person engaged in ancillary work above ground
