I have to admit there are two Richards - one born 1793 - you are correct - he isn't yours.

And this one ( which didn't show up on F M P - until I added the middle name )born 1787 to Charles and Jane

Richard Bowman Balkwill Bapt: 9 Sept. 1787 Shebear

Charles Balkwill married Jane Bowman 26 April 1778 Shebear.

So scrap my last post - this is the correct set of parents. Richard is still with Ann in the 1851 census - and his age tallies with this baptism.
