ML details "Pierce alias Hall"

Hi all

This might be on the wrong board but I'm hoping someone can help me make sense of some info in an entry in the Kent Marriage Licences published by Cowper.

My question relates to this entry:

Gibbes, William, of Crundale, yeoman, ba, 30, and Elizabeth Hall of St Peter, Canterbury, spr, d of [blank] Pierce, alias Hall, of same parish, w, who consents.

My question here is does this imply that the person consenting was Elizabeth's mother who married someone named Pierce after Elizabeth's father died? That is how I read it but so far I cannot locate a Hall/Pierce marriage.
