Heritage Family - Oxfordshire
« on: Sunday 18 June 17 13:16 BST (UK) »
Hello-- I realize this thread is a few years old, but contributors seem to know a lot about early Heritage families in Warwickshire. Does anyone know of connections to to Heritages in Oxfordshire? Looking for ancestral line of Joshua Heritage from Hook Norton.
1841 Census: Parents- John & Elizabeth Heritage (b. 1790 & 1789) Children: Caleb 17, Henry 15, Joshua 11.
Appreciate any info.
Penny Heritage

Hello & welcome
If I were you I'd start a new topic & put it on the beginners board or the Oxfordshire board as more people will see it.
It's also advisable to state what you already know & exactly what it is you want to find out.
To start you off 1851 has John Heritage's POB as King's Sutton Northants.
IGI has a John Heritage b. 1790 Middleton Cheney abt. 5mls. away. Parents Thomas & Mary. May not be him of course.

Jim, I have just requested that a moderator start a new topic for Penny.

I agree that some more details from Penny about Heritage family would be a good idea.

The surname HERITAGE is a One Name Study, registered with the Guild. Have you been in touch?

Thank you everyone! As you can tell, I'm new to Roots Chat, so I truly appreciate all the help. I just learned of the one-name study and joined the Guild yesterday. I now have a member number so can log in and search.

Information gathered previously: (subject to verification)
John Heritage (b. 7 Jun 1790, Kings Sutton, Northhamptonshire, England- d. 10 Mar 1877, Southampton, Hampshire, England)
married Elizabeth Rimmell on 20 Feb 1823, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, England
Elizabeth (b. 1789, Deddington, Oxfordshire, England- d. 1875, Banbury, Oxfordshire, England)
Their children:
Caleb (b. 1823)
Henry (b. 1825)
Joshua James Heritage (b. 16 Jan 1829)  Joshua is my husband's great-great-grandfather.

Joshua married Dinah Townley on 9 Apr 1851.
Dinah was born in 1833 in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, England)
They had a son, Joshua, in 1851.
Joshua, Dinah, and Joshua Jr. sailed to America on the Patrick Henry in 1851, arrived in New York 28 Jun. Joshua Jr. was 5 months old.

Joshua lived to be 85 years old. He and Dinah had 13 children. One of their children- Henry (my husband's great grandfather) lived to be over 100.

We are traveling to England in July... as part of our itinerary, we are looking forward to a visit to Hook Norton and vicinity to explore the countryside.

I appreciate any information or suggestions.

Sincerely,
Penny Palmer Heritage
