DOHERTY/McCOURT
« on: Monday 19 June 17 11:47 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of or certificates for Denis DOHERTY, Blacksmith, possibly born in Derry or Donegal who married Ellen McCOURT from Derry (allegedly ???) Denis was born circa 1819, have no idea of Ellen's year of birth, but she was dead by 1901. They settled in Artigarvan, Co. Tyrone at some point after 1854.
Any info or advice would be great,
TIA
Angela x

Thanks Hallmark, but this is not the Denis I am looking for ;D my Denis was alive in the 1901 census, marked as a widowed. In the valuation revision book his forge changed hands in 1904, so i'm guessing that's when he passed away. i shall keep digging!

Denis Doherty in 1901 census so can't be the one who died in 1880-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Ballymagorry/Artigarvan/1753215

Denis Doherty, blacksmith, Artigarvan, died 1903-

Online Catholic Parish Registers for Leckpatrick R.C. Parish start 1863.

You could have narrowed it down further by only including deaths in 1900s but so much easier to find him in 1901 census (alive), check that he didn't seem to appear in 1911, then check deaths in that period in between  ::)
