Arms of Jonathan Power Gilpin, gent of Bath
« on: Wednesday 21 June 17 16:10 BST (UK) »
Trying to find a description of the arms of a several times great uncle Jonathan Power Gilpin.
Apprenticed; 14th February 1737, to Frances Savage of Tetbury, Glos, attorney.
Later a cornet in the Duke's Dragoons.
Married 26th June 1759, Tellisford, Somerset, Frances Batchellor, groom stated as of Kington St Michael, Wiltshire.
Buried; 24th September 1790, Tellisford.
PCC will; 16th May 1787 mentions "my tea china and yellow and green ware with my arms on them". Possibly Chinese armorial ware, as his son was station in the Indies at that time. in the same paragraph he mentions silver coat buttons with a fox on them in gold. So I wondered whether they might feature on his shield or crest.

There are no Gilpins in the 1623 Heraldic Visitation of Wiltshire. His brother, James Gilpin, was Recorder of Oxford, died before 21st March 1767, when his brother, as executor, placed a notcie in the Oxford Journal.

I have found this, Although doesn't list Jonathan. Its possible these could be the arms he was referring to or at least a version.

I've attached the four entries for Gilpin found in Burke's General Armory. I cannot tell if any of them relate to the Gilpin you are looking for.
