living in Little Bolton - enumerator has them all down as being born in Little Bolton but all children have mmn as Russell

and the rest of John's family in 1861

Robert Brooks - 23, Cotton Operative, Bachelor, Eagley Bank, Astley Bridge

    Groom's Father: Thomas Brooks, Crofter

Wonderful stuff from you all. I see that Emma was a boarder with the Brooks family......although husband to be wasn't there.

I wonder if the John that is witness to James' marriage is John senior?

Earlier, I saw that Herbert Barrow is boarding with Robert Brooks in 1901 I think. I also think Robert is a widower by then.

There is a John, son of John Barrow. He married Sarah Crook in 1901. Could be him as the witness. John snr may have died.

Where did you find that marriage please. I can't seem to find it

Edit found marriage of Sarah to John BARRON. I think it was originally mistranscribed onto the register index. The certificate looks more like Barrow but it is in distinct. John age 26 Sarah age 25 father John boilermaker.

I did wonder about the James one I posted earlier as it is the only time I have noticed John as a moulder rather than boilermaker

Interestingly John and Sarah had a son called Herbert Russell barrow
