Wheartys of Dundalk
« on: Friday 23 June 17 22:11 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to trace my late fathers family in Dundalk. My father was Ernest Martin - mother Elizabeth's second marriage was to John Whearty was 1921 and they lived in Barrack Street. There were a few children - anyone any information gratefully received.

Mary Martin birth 1904

William Martin 1906

The Whearty children could possibly be still living so we can't post about them on RootsChat as there is a no living or possibly living policy but you can search here for possible births

I got distracted and forgot to post this
It looks like John died 1957, there is a son as informant
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1957/04402/4146086.pdf

It looks like Elizabeth died 1963 but if you click on the link it takes you to the wrong record, it's linking to a Dublin Whearty death not Elizabeth's Dundalk one.

That's fantastic - looks like he died on my birthday!
I have my grandmas death certificate thanks.
I don't suppose you could find any info on my great grandfather Owen Kirk? I have some info - marriage in Liverpool to Mgt Finnigan. Also he was a sailor so I thought there might be records but can't find anything!!
Or should I put this as a new post?
Many thanks

There is this record of a 20 year old Owen Kirk from Dundalk on the Pomona 1851
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kat/

Does his marriage to Margaret Finnigan give his father's name?
What year was the marriage?

Their marriage was 1878 - Owen was 28 mariner  and Margaret 22. Her father was Patrick and he was a labourer.
The Owen Kirk you found is about the right age

Many thanks for your help
