Stoke Damerel marriage lookup - WRIGHT- FOLDS - COMPLETED

Could someone kind with access to the Stoke Dameral registers please check the details of the marriage of JAMES WILLIAM WRIGHT to ELIZABETH FOLDS. This marriage took place March q 1873.

I think you will find that it did not take place in a Church but in the registry office so you will have to obtain the marriage certificate from the GRO.

Interesting thought, DOB7.   I didn't know there were registry offices around then!
What makes you think that the marriage might have been in a registry office?

When civil registration was introduced on 1 July 1837, so were registry offices. I think this is a civil regn marriage because I could not locate a church register marriage for this couple or the other couple on the same page of th emarriage index.

The marriage reference is 5b page 513.

The page range for this quarter is 447-515

The indexes are compiled first by the Anglican parishes, then Jewish, Quaker and finally registrar attended (for other denominations) or register office.

As DOB suggests, the page number at the end of the sequence infers that you'll need to buy a copy of the certicate from the GRO to find out more details.
