Many thanks

On Monday last an accident occurred at the bone mill attached to the corn mill at Barhill owned by Mr Carseswell resulting in the death of John Hutchinson, millwright, native of Thorthorwald. Deceased had been repairing the machinery and set it in motion to see if it was alright. While adjusting a screw nut he was caught by the teeth of a wheel and his right arm was taken off. His ribs and collar bone were also broken. The accident happened at 1pm, John Hutchinson died at 10pm.

Oh dear, what a gruesome death.

JJ
