Marriage 1849 Emma Freer and Jonas Waller
« on: Saturday 24 June 17 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to find details of the marriage of Jonas Waller and Emma Freer which was reg 2nd quarter 1849 Bradford.

Emma gives her place of birth as Leeds in censuses of 1861 and 1891, she died 1899. I cannot find her in 1851 or 1871 by which time she was married to George Davis (1873) Jonas having died 19th Dec 1858 (drowned in Middlesborough, York Herald, 24th Dec 1858).

I know I can buy a copy of the marriage certificate but with Emma only related through George Davis who was my great x2 great uncle I am hoping perhaps I can find the details through parish registers if the marriage took place in church.

Many thanks

Bob

It's on Ancestry, 14 April 1849, St Peter, Bradford Cathedral. Jonas was a 21 year old bachelor Engineer of Horton, father Thomas was a Dresser. She was a 21 year old spinster of Horton, father John Frear was a (Carter?) Jonas made his mark & Emma signed. Witnesses were William Holmes (Professional witness) & Christopher Gibsons (his mark)

Many thanks, I was struggling to find them in 1851 so now I have a clue as to where Jonas was born. I think the baptism of Emma might be on Ancestry in 1827 but I haven't access to the site.

Thanks to all the people who have replied, after this morning I will be away for 10 days so won't be able to check for any further responses.

Thanks again.

Thank you for that, I thought that might be her in 1827.

Looking at the census entry for 1851 which I have finally found on Findmypast, thanks to previous reply, I think Jonas was possibly born "Denham" which I think is actually Denholme which is near Bradford and that would fit in better.

Looks like we are finally getting somewhere :)

Thanks again.
