Nimmons Family from Randlestown
« on: Saturday 24 June 17 17:55 BST (UK) »
Hello
I know when Marjorie Nimmons was born ( 20/8/1926 Randlestown ,  died Feb 2009 Belfast) but can not obtain a birth cert from Groni as I do not know her mothers maiden name.   Marjorie never married . I  have found a search  on Groni direct is not possible  as  her birth is not over  100 years ago. Any suggestions as to how I can try and find the names of her parents.Alas no 1939 register for Northern Ireland .

Based on her sister S (I haven't given full forename in case she is still living) Beattie Nimmons' marriage notice in the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph, their father was James, so neither marriage mentioned in post 2 would match, unfortunately.

Perhaps the 'Beattie' is a clue, though, or are you aware of Marjorie also having a 'surname' as a middle name at all? Ushers at the marriage included the surnames McCracken and Graham, cousins of the bride. An uncle, the Rev Joseph Nimmons, was one of those who officiated.

Meant to say, not knowing her mother's maiden name shouldn't prevent the certificate being ordered via GRONI, as the maiden name box is not a 'required field', merely an optional one.

Rev Joseph Nimmons was possibly the one who was son of a Robert Nimmons, J.P., of Randalstown.

James Nimmons may have been the same one associated with a shop in Randalstown known as Robert Nimmons & son.

Robert Nimmons,  J.P.  died in 1939. As per the death notice in local newspaper of the time, he had a flourishing boot and shoe business and was originally from Leitrim (possibly the townland of this name in Randalstown rather than the County).

Minister No. 6 was Rev Joseph Nimmons, formerly a missionary serving in Manchuria, China, appointed to Newmills in 1932. He was a classics scholar and held regular Hebrew and Greek classes in the Manse.

Thank you all. Her sister S Beattie Nimmons died before her sister.
Would it be possible to have the date of the paper that mentioned her marriage. Her husband also died some years ago having remarried.
If I follow the post s correctly it looks like Robert is the father of James and Joseph.
Very many thanks.

The wedding was noted in the June 13th 1956 edition of the Belfast News Letter and in the June 22nd edition of the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph.
