Tasmanian Death Certificate
« on: Sunday 25 June 17 03:08 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon,

James Gibson died in Emu Bay 5 Sept 1879, and I have down loaded the page from the Family Search site.
If I get the death certificate will it tell me anything more?

Thank you
Jean

James Gibson died in Emu Bay 5 Sept 1879

Do you mean John GIBSON?

.... I have down loaded the page from the Family Search site.

If you mean you downloaded the image then that IS the death certificate.

He also left a Will if you haven't seen it:

Sorry, yes, I did mean John Gibson.
I had understood that the birth place would be available from 1879. I read that on this site: http://www.jaunay.com/bdm.html

I can not see a place of birth on what I printed earlier today.
Thank you
Jean

PS Yes, I do have the will.

Oh,  umm.... I read that as from 1897, not as 1879.

majm,

I will go and lie down and count to 100.
Then I will be off to the nearest optician.

Thank you for your very discreet comment.

I had better mark this as closed before I trip over again.

Does this death record, and included details, account for your interest in this GIBSON family in Tasmania...ie...no further interest?

If this is the GIBSON family of interest to you, there might be other means of determining the origins of...who?...

Thank you wivenhoe for your query and matthewj64 for your links.
My foray into Tasmania was a last ditch attempt to find his birth in Scotland - which I can not find on ScotlandsPeople.
I have been researching this family for some years, have the book"Somerset the Cam" by A C Hearn, and have corresponded with the local history/genealogy group. I have his marriage and wife's details in Scotland - it is just his birth that I am looking for now.
Thank you,
Jean
