Dunkirk
« on: Sunday 25 June 17 20:16 BST (UK) »
Hi I am trying to track down some information with no details to offer. My uncle was Leonard Kelly and he served in the army and apparently was in Dunkirk. He suffered shell shock so was never right after that. I think his mother was Margaret Kelly and father may have been Frederick Holman they were not married. I am not sure also if Frederick was his really father. Leonard lived for some years in Peckham and worked in the National Gallery most of his life. Just started doing this so not too sure how it works. Thanks.

CaroleW has pointed you in the direction of his service record which is indeed the only way you will be able to dig deeper into your uncle's service history.  Once you have it, and it takes a few months, you should be able to find our where, in broad terms, he served and with whom, and obviously if the military jargon in his record is confusing then this is the place to come back to.

Good luck.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
