looking for marriage record for William Meechan and Eliza Dowey
« on: Monday 26 June 17 00:53 BST (UK) »
They were both from Ireland and moved to Greenock Scotland so may have been married in either country. I have info showing that they had a son Joseph born abt 1889 in England and a son, William born abt 1880 in Greenock Scotland. Don't know if they had more children but based on this, the marriage may have been pre 1880. Thank you for any help.
Ireland: Mayo - O'Malley, Malley, Currigan, Lynchacan. Antrim - McAuley. Louth - Byrne. Down - Smith.

England: Lancashire - O'Malley, McCauley, Foster.

I can't see anything for William on IrishGenealogy.ie?
Nothing in Church Records or Civil Records.

Have you tried ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you KGarrad and aghadowey. I have found a birth record for William Mechan in 1879 Greenock. However, I'm unable to read the record so will post it on this site under handwriting deciphering.
Ireland: Mayo - O'Malley, Malley, Currigan, Lynchacan. Antrim - McAuley. Louth - Byrne. Down - Smith.

England: Lancashire - O'Malley, McCauley, Foster.

Probably no need to keep starting all these topics since it's easy to confuse yourself and others leaping from one to another. From the birth certificate deciphering thread it looks as though the marriage took place in Greenock, Scotland rather than Ireland. Now it's really a matter of you searching for the marriage in Scottish records (Scotland's People) to view all the details on it.
