Hi all I stumbled onto this thread by doing a Google search for "Thomas Gerard Jones" (Bessie's brother) and was ecstatic to see my family being discussed here.  I was hoping someone could maybe help me with my research???  I can't seem to get past John Richard Basset Jones (Bessie's father) born 1832 in Worcestershire, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bullamore thanks for the reply. John Jones did migrate to New York was married and had children there. I don’t know why, but he moved back to UK to Polesworth. I get a lot of hits with Fred Jones and people with ties to the Wilson family, but they never have any Jones that they are researching. I keep hoping someone on the Jones side can make a connection for me, but no luck yet. I know Thomas married Edith Wilson which was Mary Jane’s sister. I have more details if anyone may be able to help. Thanks again Bullamore let me know if you do come across anything else. Cheers

There is a Richard Jones who married Ann Bassett by license 31 January 1815 at Polesworth.

Perhaps instead of working backwards you could find out all his children and make a connection that way.
Wills are needed if possible to work out family relationships, for instance if Ann Bassett' father left a will he may name grandchildren

Hi amondg, It's funny you bring up Ann Bassett I actually have the marriage certificate for John and Ann. Ann was a minor and had to bring her brother with a note saying that it was ok have her marry John. The note was from their mother, because the father was deceased. I had a lady from Bassett Branches.org think this was right. I am skeptical, because that would mean that John was born 17 years after they were married and they lived in Polesworth. On the census it says he was born in Worcestershire. Do you think this is possible? Any help to where I can look this up would be great. Thanks so much

On the question of being born 17 years after they married you answered yourself, Ann was under 21
when she married and its possible she had children every two years for the next 27 years at least.
There is a John Richard Jones born to Richard and Ann baptized 17 March 1833 St Peter Worcestershire, could be another Richard and Ann Jones of course.

The name Bassett/Basset is an obvious link though either as mothers maiden name or grandmother's

Children found so far of Richard and Ann Jones at Polesworth
Baptisms
Eliza 7 July 1815
Urrum 5 July 1818 (female)
John Thomas(Thomson on some transcriptions) 24 October 1819  born 9 October 1819
Mary 14 May 1820  born 30 April 1820
Sarah Ann 26 December 1822
No further transcriptions found in Polesworth.

I noticed in other Jones families the name Urrum/Urum is continued.

I don't know what Richard's trade was but is it possible he moved to Worcestershire for a while?

What was Ann Bassett's mothers name and was her fathers name given in the marriage license/certificate.
