Thank you all very much. Seaweed I do have that photograph from some time ago either through FindMyPast or Ancestry - can't remember which and at present I'm not subscribed to either.

Shellyesq, your posts have answered my questions and as always with family history left more 

It looks as if Nellie and Ayrton's marriage broke down, or Nellie didn't want to leave the UK - after all Coniston is a pretty beautiful place to live and the USA was unknown, or maybe Nellie was going out but Ayrton met Irene M, or maybe Nellie met someone............ Let's just hope they were both happy. With them not having children it is unlikely that I will ever know but it has been really interesting to fill in the rest of Ayrton's life.
