Molly short for Louise?
« on: Monday 26 June 17 13:40 BST (UK) »
Thoughts if you may.. Molly Ashworth listed on 1911 census born in 1901 Wolverhampton but on the 1901 census for the same family I can only see Louise A Ashworth born in 1901. Would it be logical to think this was a nickname for her?

The number of children has been struck through a number of times on the 1911 one, but i believe it shows one child died so trying to eliminate any possibilities.

I've not heard of this as a shortened version for Louise but could be wrong?

Amy

Molly is usually short for Mary or Margaret or may be a name in its own right. It could be an unrelated nickname though.

I'd be looking at deaths and births for after the 1901 census if I were you.  :) Have you looked for Louise elsewhere in 1911, or for deaths for her prior to 1911?

Added: It looks like 9 years married, 4 children born alive, three still alive and one has died. Two children with the family in 1911 - who is missing?

Did John Ashworth marry Ethel Ann Tyler in 1901 in Macclesfield? :-\

If so I can't see any Ashworth births with MMN Tyler in the GRO indexes ...

Thanks Nanny Jan. I was just about to say that the name is Louisa. I found her as a one month old boarder with a Turner family in the 1901 census.

Amy, you said this was the same family in 1901 - it isn't as far as I can see. What makes you believe that it is?  :-\

Thanks Nanny Jan. I was just about to say that the name is Louisa. I found her as a one month old boarder with a Turner family in the 1901 census.

I can see Louisa Adelaide aged 2 months with her father John aged 30 a widower, and siblings Doris and John Harrold in Wolverhampton in 1901.
Also in the household is a visitor, Ethel Ann Tyler
I'd say this is the same family as in 1911  :-\

That certainly looks better than the one month old boarder.  :)
