workhouses
« on: Monday 26 June 17 18:11 BST (UK) »
hi

it appears some of my ancestors as young children were orphaned, 4 of them  were aged 7-1 , the eldest 7, was my direct ancestor.

i know he might have been taken in by reletives, but he might have gone to the workhouse? is there any workhouse records for the nuneaton area in 1765?

i can find no further mention of his younger siblings. (split up?)

Hi Robert,
You don't mention any names so I couldn't check but Ancestry has some of the Warwickshire poor law records in their collection which would be worth checking for any mention. It would also be worth contacting the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry as they cover all of Warwickshire and might be able to help.

hi

the person im interested in is samuel atkins born 1758 wasperton.  his father and mother both died there in 1765, im guessing some illness? they were only in their early 30's.

Robert,
Unfortunately the poor law records don't cover Wasperton so I would again suggest
contacting the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry who might be able to help.
