James Wilson
« on: Tuesday 27 June 17 03:14 BST (UK) »
Hi all,I am searching for any information on James Wilson and Margaret Harper 1700s-1800s.His son Alexander John Wilson's death certificate states that James was a Dock Builder,Master.I know he was in Canada in 1813 because Alexander was born/christened in Halifax Nova Scotia 1812-1814 but I don't know when he went, what he did there or when he returned, when born/died or if Alexander had any siblings.Areas I have been searching are:Canada,Scotland and England.Alexander died 1886 at 6 Norfolk St.,Glasgow.I have been unsuccessful in finding any records for Alexander in Nova Scotia. He may even have siblings who stayed and lived in Canada.Thank you so much,Marj

Skipping a generation has crossed my mind as I wondered if James's parents had gone to Canada first with a family and James grew up there but definitely on Alexander John's death certificate states his parents were James Wilson and Margaret Harper. They were a Catholic family. There is also passed down the generations that we have links to the Cree People.I also wondered if James's wife maybe died ?childbirth and Margaret may be his 2nd wife.(have to cover all bases).Alexander may have been the last child(1813) so others may have been born in Canada. If James got married at 30yr,it would make his birth date around 1783.

I've looked on Billiongraves and Find a Grave but no luck for Alexander's grave. Was hoping he was buried in a family lair somewhere in Glasgow which would then have his father's date of birth/death inscribed.Am in Australia so bit hard to go physically and look.
