Help with NZ BDM index - SHACKEL, RAAFF, LANDELLS families

I would like some help on using the New Zealand BDM index, which I have used before but have a situation where I am lacking the family name.

I want to get the reg # for the marriage of William George Shackel b. 1879 in New Zealand, with Gertrude Sophia (I don't know her last name or any other info).
Is it possible to do that search? There are children of that couple recorded from  1906 to 1916 in the index.

I can't find a new Zealand marriage for William George SHACKEL on the NZSG Marriage Index either.

Could they have married overseas?

Sophia married again in 1933, to a Mr INWOOD.

A Google search suggests that Gertrude's surname was RAAFF and that she was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1883. It appears that they married at Cape Town in March 1905.

Hi Spades - thanks for the surname for Gertrude Sophia RAAFF. I didn't attempt to search NZ newspapers.

Here is what I know about the Shackel - Landells couple:

from Victorian BDM - births
LANDELLS      Isabel Ruth   (Birth)   father: Burns Baillie  mother:  Emily (Sparrow)    Regn:   1892   35267  Place:  NCOTE

from Western Australian BDM - marriages
Landells,  Isobel R   (Female)    Shackel, William G  (Male)  District:   Regn District: Perth  Regn:       428  1935 

Their deaths were both in NZ - William in 1961, Isabella Ruth ("Betty") in 1971.

It's more complicated than I thought - children with the same given names as parents. The earlier Shackel family, before the 20th century Isabella Ruth Landells and William Shackel is a little off-track, but I will have to take a little more time and care to work it out.

Is it possible for me to change the Subject of this thread, and add in those surnames, I wonder?

(I have a little personal information about both individuals, which might be useful to others)

Hi Janette - I started this thread mainly because I couldn't discover a spouse name when using the NZ BDM - my inexperience in using it.
I also provided some info about the persons, and was given info/leads about them - for which I'm grateful.
But I should have included in the Subject, at least the name Shackel.
Maybe I should contact a Moderator, who might be able to add that info to the Subject line?

Just a correction - Gertrude Sophia RAAFF married the older William George SHACKEL (1872-1971), and they had a daughter Gertrude Sophia b. 1908 in NZ; her brother was William George SHACKEL b. 1906 in NZ who married Isabella Ruth LANDELLS.
The daughter Sophia married Walter Charles INWOOD b. 1905 in NZ; the marriage was 1933 in NZ.


Otherwise, I can close this thread I think.
