Wow thanks for all the responses!  We only have a family tree, with the name Magarin on it he was definitely an aboriginal, not sure if he also went by Daniel Corrup, he is the father of Billy Kelly...

Is this your Magarin? alias Jim KELLY, his age also fits with your chap (about age 35 in 1876)

Inspired by CoL's excellent discoveries, I had a look in Trove and found mention of your ancestor Dilyan. You may already be aware of this, but it appears he helped the early surveyors:

No obvious mentions of any of the others in Trove.

We ve only just started our research after seeing the family tree, so interesting to hear about Jimmy Kelly, surely that would be the same man as Magarin. Thanks cupoflife for your help.

What is the "family tree" you refer to? Who compiled this tree?

If you would like more help, can you give us some more information? Perhaps tell is what you already have, and what you still need to find out, and someone may be able to help you fill in the gaps.

As I mentioned earlier, a link to the tree if it is online would be useful. Depending on how much detail it contains, and how large it is, even a photo of the tree if it is on paper would help.

That is the burial CoL found in reply #10. Age at death it a bit at odds with the police records giving his age, thouh presumably in both cases they are probably someone's best guess.
