Searching for record of death - William Pope d1878 East Stonehouse
« on: Tuesday 27 June 17 17:09 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am trying to get hold of the death certificate for William Pope b1811 in Langport Somerset. He resided at 2 Quarry Street, East Stonehouse at the time of his death on 21 December 1878 according to his probate record. I cannot find any record of the reference info to order the certificate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Matt

Thanks for that - very fast! Out of interest, how do you know about the burial location?

Out of interest overlandermatt - what method had you been using to locate the death regn? I used https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl - entered his surname and the date parameters and he popped up immediately.
Squance, Lillicrap, Dankester, Surtees, Yates

Thanks again.

I used the GRO search tool on this occasion to try to find the registration. I'll pay greater attention next time!

Interesting to know about the FindMyPast burials... I have been using Ancestry for a while now and am never sure which one best suits my purpose. Knowing this, I suspect I will be asking another question about the burial of his son, Benjamin Thomas Pope b1859 who died in 1902...
