Commonwealth War Graves Commission record here http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/685013/YOUNG,%20ADAM

Is it your intention to find out more or is this In Memoriam?

Hamilton Advertiser 4th Sep1915
Young...Killed in action at Gallipoli on the 12thJuly. Adam Sommerville Young, dearly beloved third son of James and Grace Young, Pleasance, Wilsontown.
He bravely died that we might live
Oh! for the touch of a vanished hand
And the sound of a voice that is still.

In another report it mentions he was a member of the 8th Highland Light Infantry attached to he 7th Royal Scots and was a territorial who volunteered for foreign service. In civil life he was an employee of Messrs Dixon, Wilsontown Colliery.

The 1/7th. diary is on Ancestry which tells you what he was doing on the 12th.
There were a large number of men from 8/HLI attached to the 1/7th. RS.

Thank you Max D, Jim 1 and Cath 151. Adam is my uncle, and appears on our village war memorial. I discovered fairly recently that he belongs to my Young family and wish to include him in my family tree, which I have looked up back to my grand-parents James and Grace (nee Somerville) Young. Still a bit of a novice with Internet research.

In expansion of the info so far you might like to gather together:

Commonwealth War Graves Commemorative certificate from the CWGC site – free http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/685013/YOUNG,%20ADAM

His medal card from National Archives  £3.50 http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6051500

His medal card records his date of entering the Gallipoli theatre of war as 2 July 1915.  However, his 1914-1915 Star medal roll entry has been amended to read 12 June 1915 which accords with the arrival date recorded in the 7 Royal Scots war diary.  As jim1 says, there were a number of HLI men attached to 7 Royal Scots and from the dates it would seem that these men joined the RS before departure from UK and, luckily perhaps, he was not among the 473 casualties of the battalion in the worst train crash in British history at Gretna Green that claimed so many of A and D companies on their way to war.

The dates also tell us that he was at Gallipoli barely a month before giving his life.

The war diary of 7 RS and the entry in the Register of Soldiers’ Effects jim1 referred to are on Ancestry if you have a sub?

Difficult to pinpoint exactly where he was on the 12th. as most Gallipoli maps are just sketches like this one.
However from the diaries of the Batts. involved the 7/RS were supporting the 4/RSF & others in these 2 Turkish trench systems shaded yellow (E10 & E11).
Unfortunately E11 was a trench too far.
The British front line is shaded red.
Map 2 shows the front line in relationship to the peninsular.
