GRAINGERS from Yorkshire

I am seeking information about my now deceased mother Joan Harris (nee Grainger) who was born at 2 Stockwell Road, Knaresborough, Yorkshire on the 19th December 1925.

I am trying to find out about my mothers childhood from her birth in 1925 until 1939 when I found her listed on the UK 1939 Register as a school girl. 

Her mother was Daisy Grainger.  Daisy's parents were Albert Ingleby Grainger & Isabella Dews Grainger (nee Andrews).

Apparently Norman, Joan and Irene were placed in children's homes but I don't know when or where this was.

Were Norman and Irene Joan's siblings, and have they both died?

Where did you find Joan on the 1939 census?

Harrogate to Knaresborough is about 3 miles, for information as to where to look for 'homes'.

Harrogate was a parish within the Knaresborough Registration District

I still haven't found a birth registration for Daisy?

Joan was born in Stockwell Road, Knaresbrough, and then was living in Harrogate according to the 1939 census, which is why I stated the distance.

"2 Stockwell Road, Knaresborough" was apparently an address given when a birth took place at Knaresborough workhouse.

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Knaresborough/ - information on the workhouse at Stockwell road here, also some cottage homes.  They don't seem to have retained many records, unfortunately.
