Hoping someone can help me again regarding Tynemouth union workhouse.
Looking for the parents of Mary Annie Murphy born 1895.
She is on the 1901 census in the workhouse.

Hi,

There is a birth record of a Mary Ann Murphy -

q2 1895, Tynemouth
Vol 10b Page 203

Mother's maiden name - Pullent.

Do you know who Mary Annie Murphy married?

I looked at the other names in the workhouse.
As well as Mary Annie, there was a 2 year old Hannah Jane Murphy and a 12 year old Arthur Murphy- may be more but I am stuck for time  so can't look further.
A free search of the GRO index https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

gives the following mother's maiden names for these children
Mary Annie, 1895 Q2 Tynemouth PULLENT
Hannah Jane 1898 Q4 Tynemouth BULLENT
Arthur 1888 Q3 Yarmouth BULLENT

Look and see if there are any more Murphys in the 1901 census in the workhouse, then check the GRO index and see if the MMN matches. Then go back to the 1891 census and see if you can find any older ones in there, hopefully with their parents

What it is was Maria Anna Murphy was born 1895.Was also found as Mary Ann by 1897 she had vanished no marriage no death.Parents were Murphy and Carrick so when I saw that Mary Annie in workhouse I wondered if that was her.
The father died 1897.

Do you have the details of Anna Maria's mother? She could have remarried and thereby Maria could be found under a different surname.

Maybe if you tell us what you do know - and how you know it, we can do more informed searches. What info do you have to say the parents were Murphy and Carrick, what tells you she was found as Mary Ann in 1897? If her Dad died in 1897, what was his name? Did this Maria Anna have siblings?

If I am correct I can recall finding a death for Francis Murphy and a newspaper article for a Rootschat member on here ( Avotier )...If this is the same family you are searching for Francis Murphy  died in a drowning accident in Ireland
