Nobody seems to have mentioned that Stephen is listed as being 22 years old on the marriage to Kitty, giving an approximate birth year of 1830.
Looking through the GRO death registrations I can only find one possible match, in 1888, age 58.
Looking through census' there does seem to be a matching Stephen in West Ham. He's the right age and gives his birth place as Dunmow, and later, Little Canfield*. On the 1861 and 1871 census he's listed as single but when he marries Susan Judd (nee Perrin) in 1879 he's listed as widowed.
There are a couple of newspaper records for this Stephen.
I think this is probably the same Stephen that married Kitty but what happened to Kitty is the question.
* Stephen's brother Charles married Rebecca Smith in 1858. He too lists his birth place as Great Dunmow in early census' but later changes it to Little Canfield.

Robbing Of A Fellow Lodger
Mathew Lowe, 32, a labourer of 80 Victoria Dock-road, was charged with stealing a silver watch and a chain, on the 15th Feb, at 66 Roscoe-street, Canning-town, the property of Stephen Attridge. Prosecutor stated that the prisoner had been lodging with him for about two months, and on the 15th Feb. he left the house and did not return; on the same afternoon he missed his watch from where it had been hanging at the head of his bed, and upon subsequently meeting the prisoner at a public-house he asked him what he had done with it; prisoner then admitted that he had pawned it at Stratford but could not remember at what shop or in what name he had pawned it; he accordingly gave him into custody. Prisoner pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to four months' hard labourer.

Barking
Sudden Death
Stephen Attridge, aged 58, a labourer of Cook-street, Barking, died very suddenly on Tuesday. Upon returning home from work he ate a hearty tea, and while sitting by the fire smoking his pie he fell forward and died immediately. Mr S. Lee, surgeon, was called in, and his opinion that death is due to heart disease, the deceased having recently complained of pains in the chest.
PS: Emma, I fairly sure I have Warners in my own tree, from the same area of Essex, namely John Searl and Sarah Warner who married in Takeley in 1802. Although I haven't been able to pin down Sarah, in trying to do so I have accumulated quite a few records for Warners; if you'd like a copy just let me know.
