John Cecil Waldron and family
« on: Thursday 29 June 17 05:00 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find more information about John Cecil Waldron's parents and siblings as I've hit a dead end here. He was born in about 1869 and his death certificate states he was born "at sea". His parents names were Francis and Ellen, the death certificate states that Francis was a contractor. It is about Francis and Ellen that I cannot find anything!

According to the death certificate he spent 41 years in Victoria and unknown periods of time in WA and NSW. He married Emily Norwood Watson in WA in 1897 and had 8 children, 3 in WA and the rest in Victoria.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You would be better off getting the marriage certificate as death certs are sometimes a work of fiction.  You would also get his mother's maiden surname if he knew what it was.

Hi,

John Cecil Waldron enlisted into the 1st AIF during WW1 and his digitised record can downloaded on the Australian National Archives site.

No 7579 14th Battalion.

When he enlisted on 17th July 1917 he stated that he was 44 and 9/12 years old and born in Melbourne.

Who was the informant on his death cert? They possibly could have his parents names wrong.

I did find this but cant find anything to confirm or eliminate it.

John Cecil Waldron (Hairdresser) b. Germany 1867 d. Royal Park, Vic 1945 m. Emily Watson
(7 children).

Nice find,

Looks like the correct person.

John was a hairdresser in Fremantle and Kalgoorlie before moving to Walhalla where he went broke in 1911.  Enlisted in 1917 as a hairdresser but put Melbourne down as his place of birth which is understandable, if he put Germany he would have been rejected.

Maybe he came from Germany as a young man and disembarked in Fremantle.

National archives Australia
John Cecil Waldron - Service Number 7579 - Grant of furniture loan
date range 1922 - 1923

"Grantee and his wife separated two years ago..."

I was wondering if there was a divorce maybe it might have more background info on him such as where he was from or a mention of another family member, sibling etc.
