« on: Thursday 29 June 17 15:31 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information in respect of this death recorded in 1826- date of birth about 1801 - but cannot trace a baptism either! he married Dina Dean on 11th Feb 1819.

Many thanks

The Barthomley burial register only gives the date of his burial, age & residence.  Don't forget that 1826 is before civil registration so only the basic facts are given.  Rarely does one find anything more.  I see that he was aged 85 so I'm guessing old age was the cause of death.

Thank you Jay- that is great!

However the age of 85 has now made me think twice about my research facts! Are you absolutely sure that it states 85 as the age?
This could well send me back to the drawing board!
Confirmation appreciated xx

Many thanks

Has been transcribed on FindMyPast as aged 25 BUT looking at the original page from the parish register I too would say it says '85' and not '25'.   The '2''s on the page are quite different and the way '8''s are written is like the '8' shown in his age.

Hi Caroline

Yes, it's definitely 85 not 25 which would explain why you have had difficulty in locating his birth or baptism rather.

Are your Whittakers related to a James Whittaker who married Ann Sutton at Barthomley in 1767. He was also born in Barthomley but farmed at Church Coppenhall.  He had a son called Samuel who married Maria Lunt.  This Samuel farmed at New Farm, Barthomley.
