Pleasants Norfolk and Virginia USA

I am searching for my Pleasants family history. As a newbie on this site I am not sure if this is an appropriate request so bear with me.

Whilst researching the Pleasants name I have come across family trees which have John Pleasants born around 1710 who Married Elizabeth Gentleman who was born around 1719.

These trees have John Pleasants being linked with the Pleasants family from Virginia USA.
As yet I have not been able to prove the link.

Are there any Pleasants researchers who have come across this who can help me with this.
