Keturah Edmund 1861 and onwards
« on: Friday 30 June 17 13:12 BST (UK) »
Hello

Hoping someone can help.

Looking for Keturah Edmund in 1861 census and later. Born 1839 Llanelly and with her parents Richard and Margaret at Caerbygin Farm, Five Roads in 1851. Can find no obvious record of her death. I think I have found a marriage for her in 1860 as Ketrurah Edmonds in September Qtr 1860 on free BMD (Llanelly 11a 693) either to a David Davies or a Daniel Harries, though the free BMD search result is confusing as there is only her listed with David and Daniel and she can't have married both!!

Have searched for Keturah Davies and Harries in 1861 census and later with no obvious matches and also free BMD with no obvious death under these names.

With such an unusual first name I thought she would have been easy to find, but can't. This maybe because there could be variations in the spelling e.g. Ketura, Cettura etc.  and/or she may have reverted to a "pet" name once married, whatever the alternative to Keturah might be, Kitty??

Hoping someone can help

Kind Regards

Look on the 1881 census for Keturah DAVIES-spouse David in Llanelly.

Lots of children including:
GRO Births:

DAVIES, DAVID    mmn EDMUNDS
 1872  M Quarter in LLANELLY  Volume 11A  Page 677

DAVIES, DANIEL   mmn EDMUNDS
 1878  D Quarter in LLANELLY  Volume 11A  Page 704

Maureen

EDIT: She seems to go by Catherine in 1861 and 1871.

She's still at Pantygwenith in 1919 - there's adverts for the sale of a number including Pantygwenith - tenant Mrs K Davies. Area was 64 acres, 3 rods, 21 perches.

Only other item of interest about the farm is that her son Joseph was subject of an affiliation order in 1907 - mother of the child was Eleanor Morgan(s) of Iros Farm
