When I checked with the National Archives - Non-conformists records

This gives a link to The Genealogist  (however not sure if it means these COSTINS are non-conformists!!)

and when searching COSTINS - there are many for Malvern, Worcesterhire including

William COSTINS 1791 - Bricklayer

1851 Worcestershire, Great Malvern

Malvern Chase

William COSTINS - Widower  - 60  Bricklayer - born Worcestershire
Emma COSTINS - Daughter - 25 - born Gloucestershire

etc etc

Thank you what a fabulous find! If I remember correctly the residence given on Elizabeth's marriage certificate in 1868 said Clarence so I wonder if it is the same one? It also said James was an innkeeper so I'm going to see if that gives me any clues, I have a feeling maybe he didn't pass when the paper said he did. I have come across mr onley who was james Costins boss several times, however iv not seen miss Lowis mentioned once so I will look into her. The Costins you've found on the genealogist are some of james siblings and there family's from what iv gathered as there names appear as witnesses on banns etc I don't have an account with genealogist through so I'm hoping there on ancestry or FindMyPast🙂

The Pittsville website - just discovered is an incredible piece of historical records - seems James COSTINS owned Nos. 15, 16 and 17 in 1847 - and sold them on.  It also lists the residents 'in between census' returns for quite a number of years!!!

Survey map of Cheltenham 1855--7 and pictures of the Houses.

Will need to look at this website more closely!!!
