Thanks again John for your observations, I have made a note as it all helps to narrow it down. I will look at the others to see if there is any similar images.

Treetotal, purely by coincidence, my brother and brother in law both served on H.M.S. Diomedes in the 1960/70s.

I think it must have been a different ship...this the one that I have WW2 postcards of so copies won't be of any use to you:

Yes it is a different ship, Treetotal's father served aboard the cruiser HMS DIOMEDE (D92) and Greenvale's relations served in the frigate HMS DIOMEDE (F16) - the same ship I served aboard in 1980/2.
